I have so much stuff still on my To Do list and only 3 days of Spring Break left!! This was my big project to complete. Maybe now I can complete the small things on my list.

Teachers Pay Teachers
I have been editing my "Rocket Words" that I created last year when my students were having trouble with our weekly high frequency words. I wanted something to add to our weekly spelling packets that my firsties would be excited about. With the help of my fellow first grade teachers I came up with "Rocket Words" and they were a HUGE success. Within the first week I noticed that my students were retaining the weeks words. After some encouragement from my colleagues I prefected them and they are now TpT ready. If you teach from the First Grade Edition of Macmillan/McGraw-Hill California Treasures you need to try "Rocket Words." You can download my SmartStart set for free. A little of this and a little of that...
So, I got the blogger app on my phone. I have made a few posts using it and was surprised when I logged on and didn't see my last post. I apologize that my Dr. Seuss pics didn't make it. We have been working on our district assessments for reports the last two weeks. I am excited that all my reports are done. Next week in parent conference week so it is going to be a long one. I always lok forward to meeting parents to talk about their sweet littles ones that I get the pleasure of teaching everyday. But I don't lok forward to all the sitting, talking , and long week. Here is what we have been up to.
Last week we read Yertle the Turtle and then completed the cute craftivity. We also read Horton Hears a Who and completed the super cute craftivity but I guess I didn't get a picture of it :( I can't find the link for where I got the super cute craftivities. I will look at school on Monday for the credits page that goes with it so I can give credit to the talented person who created it. I purchased a super cute unit from The Teachers' Cauldron on TpT. My kiddos had so much fun doing fish math and then getting to eat their fish for snack. I found it odd how their numbers varied from one page to another. I think there was a gold fish bandit in the room that day ;)
Thing One and Thing Two were inspired by a Pinterest post that did not have a link so I created my own templet. My kiddos giggled soooo hard when having their hands painted.
We finished off a fun filled week with some not so silent reading in first grade. My little ones had so much fun reading from their favorite Dr. Seuss books all week. It was exciting to see how they really got into reading during a time when millions of others kids just like them would be celebrating the same thing they were.
I have to share what I got to do yesterday after school. I have a new niece, Paisley who is 5 weeks old and I got to meet her for the first. AND I got to see her big sis, my sweet Taylor. Who I haven't seen since July! My hubbies sister and her family are moving from Washington to Florida and made a stop in California for a visit. I also got to see my other niece, Laina who is 5 months old. I got my baby fix!!!!
Here is one last pic...
This is how I am working tonight... A glass of wine, Footloose, and a little school work.

It has been awhile...
It has been soooooooo busy in first grade. We have had a student teacher, celebrated Martin Luther King Jr., the 100th day of school, Valentine's Day, President's Day... I feel like I am forgetting something. This week we will finish up our trimester assessments and I will TRY to complete report cards while celebrating Dr. Seuss and saying goodbye to our student teacher. It doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to...

For the 100th Day of School we ade necklaces using 100 pony beads, Trail mix, and crowns with 100 dots. Fun was had by all!!!! The poor janitor will be picking up pony beads for months ;)
We also made caterpillars with 100 legs by skip counting by 10's.
Almost there...only a few more cups until there are 100 cups on that tower.
My kiddos had so much fun working in partners to complete their contraction kids. I found these on pinterest last year but I am not sure where they originated. If you know please leave a comment below so I can give credit to to right person for this super cute idea!!!
Here are a few of our finished Owl Valentin Bags!!! The were so cute!
My kiddos earned 20 brownie points and they decided that they wanted to celebrate by having a bubble gum party. OMG!!!! Do you know how comical it is to watch first graders try to blow a bubble?? I was rolling on the floor laughing! Here are a few fun pics!
Picture courtesy of one of my sweet firsties!
Boy is that a big one!!!! Look at the concentration on the little sweeties face in the background!
She really thought she had a bubble and was a little disappointed when she saw the picture.
I am so excited to start our Dr. Seuss unit this week!!! Our 5th graders will be at camp this week so our school has decided to postpone our celebrations and dress up days until the following week (March 4-8). I have to admit that I am not at all sad that I will have to stretch out my unit for 2 weeks! Tomorrow will be spent on planning my next two weeks. I have so many fun things that I need to figure out how to fit in. A fellow teachers shared a Dr. Seuss app called Cat Cam that I just couldn't resist for $1.99. There are about 10 background that you can put your picture into and tons of stickers you can add. Here is one I took of my lil man.
I will be taking pictures of my kiddos on Monday!
I will try really hard to post throughout the week of what we are doing for Dr. Seuss week.

Owl Bags
I know I haven't been around for awhile. It has been super busy at school. I have a student teacher sonI have to be way more organized and actually plan a few weeks ahead... Not always easy. Anyways... I have lots to share but for now I just couldn't wait to post a pic of the Valentine Bags we will be making on Friday. I saw them in oriental trading and thought I could design my own with my silhouette. Here is what I can up with.

Back at it!
Well, I made it through the day...barely. I went to bed at 8pm last night and I still had a hard time getting up when my alarm went off at 5:15am. I think my kiddos were right there with me. At one point I think they were all asleep with their eyes open during math time ;) I had one little guy that actually fell asleep during group time. Hopefully everyone, including me, are awake tomorrow. Although we were half asleep today we did get a lot done. We started The Teachers Wife's Super E unit. My kiddos LOVED it. I can't wait to do some more tomorrow. We also watched this video by THE ELECTRIC COMPANY: James Iglehart's "Silent E" (click on picture for link). My little ones really enjoyed it.

We will be finishing up our New Years Resolution writing tomorrow and Super E activities.

Last 2 days of vacation...
Well vacation is almost over and I have mixed emotions about going back to work on Monday. I really do miss my little ones (and mine is driving me crazy at home) but I have enjoyed the relaxing vacation that I have had. I honestly did NOTHING on my To Do list. I read 3 trashy love stories and caught up on my TV shows. I also played lots of games with my lil man and eat way to many cookies. This morning Parker started a Basketball Camp trough the city so we had to set the alarm clock and get up early... boy was that hard! How am I going to get up even earlier Monday morning??? Maybe I should get up early tomorrow to get ready... it is a nice thought but probably won't happen. Yesterday I started to panic because I have got nothing done and I left for vacation with all my Christmas stuff still up in my room. So, yesterday I went in and spend almost 5 hours just cleaning and organizing my room. I felt much better when I got home. Then I started working on printing an preping these fun units that I got on TpT last week. Next will be all about Super Hero's in room 3!

These two packets by the Teacher Wife
and this packet from Jodi Southard at Fun in First
(Click on pictures to take you to the items over at Teachers Pay Teachers.)
I turned a movie on and went to town cutting an laminating. No I just need to get my Newsletter and a few other things done and I think I will be ready for my kiddos on Tuesday.
Have a great weekend!!!!!

Cameo FUN!!!
So, one of my downtown resolutions was to learn how to use my Silhouette Cameo and little better. I sat down with my note pad and starting playing around this morning. When I figure out how to do something (i.e. shadow my letters) and I don't write it down I will spend another hour the next time trying to remember how I did it last time ;) After about 3 hours of playing around this is what I had when I finished...
I will be taking pictures of my little ones when we return from vacation to add to their New Years Resolution writing. Poor Parker was about fed up by the time I finished. I had him come in several times to measure his lil face to make sure my eye holes in the right spots. Then I made him pose for me! I love having a little one about the same age as my kiddos to test on.
Now it is time to play with that handsome little man. I have a feeling I will also get a little workout in at the same time. His game of choice lately has been this...
A gift from Daddy for Christmas. Quit the workout!!
